Simon’s recommended tip:
Under 2.5 Goals @ 4/5 – BET NOW
Great Britain’s first Olympic match since 1960 is unlikely to be a thriller and under 2.5 goals looks the way to go at Old Trafford on Thursday night.
Stuart Pearce’s side struggled desperately in their only warm-up match – a 2-0 defeat to Brazil – and their lack of cohesion in attacking areas was all too evident. With such limited preparation time, international football is often about building on good club relationships between players and it’s painfully obvious that the GB squad are unaccustomed to playing together. Pearce’s striking options are limited to Craig Bellamy, Marvin Sordell and the massively over-rated Daniel Sturridge so perhaps it’s no surprise they struggled against Brazil.
However, Great Britain do at least have some half-decent defenders and they should be able to keep Senegal quiet. They went down 3-0 against South Korea in Stevenage on Friday, which was a real disappointment after their promising wins over Spain and Switzerland. The players looked to have run out of steam a little bit and concerns over a lack of resources could be a contributing factor in that.
The Senegal Under-23 side have been under 2.5 goals in six of their last seven games so a repeat outcome at 4/5 looks a decent shout. Fifteen of the 24 group games at the 2008 Olympics saw no more than two goals scored and with Great Britain looking so weak in attack, 4/5 looks a good price on that happening again here.

Olympic Football Preview

Great Britain are 8/13 favourites to see off Senegal in this opening match but they’ve been pushed out to 11/1 to win the gold medal after a tame performance against Brazil on Friday night. The Africans haven't included Premier League strikers Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse but they do have some talented youngsters in their ranks. They can be backed at 6/1 to stun the hosts and are a whopping 66/1 to win the tournament outright.
